Zion's Worldwide Missions
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child project is a worldwide outreach of Samaritan's Purse that touches the lives of millions of children each year through the power of a simple gift. Shoeboxes filled with presents by caring people bring love, joy, and hope to children living in some of the most impoverished regions of the world. As wonderful as these gifts are it is ultimately about sharing the life-changing message of God's greatest gift - His Son, Jesus Christ. Many children and their families have come to know Christ through these simple gifts.
Refugee Resettlement
Six churches make up the Refugee Resettlement committee. Refugees are given a place to live, transportation to English classes and help in finding jobs. They are usually independent in about 6 to 8 months.
Sierra Leone Initiative
The initiative is a covenant relationship between the Central PA conference and the Sierra Leone, Africa conference. It offers financial support to pastors, establishes mutual prayer and communication, and encourages Volunteers in Mission (VIM) visits. Zion UMC committed to the 10-year covenant agreement and was assigned a sister church in Rutile, Sierra Leone. The initiative is a covenant relationship between the Central PA conference and the Sierra Leone, Africa conference. Christ For the City
Each year a team of people from Zion Church travel to Costa Rica to complete different projects. Each year the projects change. Ten of Zion's people served in Costa Rica June 10-19, 2008.The team participated in construction and plumbing projects, medical evangelism, children's ministry, fitting and dispensing of reading glasses. Lives were touched with the love of Jesus Christ as the team served, comforted, healed, and shared the gospel message. A medical team serving with Christ for the City in the Limón area is being considered for sometime in 2009.
